BIGbin new’s

Time fly’s when you’re having fun. It’s hard to believe that we have been in the waste disposal business now for nearly two years. BIGbin has gone from a fledgling company to Irelands leading pay as you go domestic waste disposal business. Have we made a difference? We sure have! BIGbin provides an alternative waste management solution to many different communities throughout the country.  In rural areas, where it is costly for local authorities (LAs) to operate a service, BIGbin can be positioned strategically to serve the local needs. Similarly, in urban areas our service can compliment rather than compete with current operators.  Our own research indicates that small households, singles, couples, pensioners and people on a budget feel that they are not sufficiently catered for within the current waste management system. The great strides made in providing recycling infrastructure can be complemented by our service. We believe that the BIGbin service is a partial solution to the problem of illegal dumping.  Bigbin will continue to grow and become a bright yellow beacon in the campaign to clean up Ireland.

The BIGbin company was selected as  runner up in the  WLRFM Deise Den competition 2011. The Deise Den competition is in its second year on WLRFM and is designed to give start up companies an opportunity to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges with the chance to win €32,000 worth of business services with some cash in there also(€5,000) and advertising on WLRFM.

Initially the competition was whittled down to 12 businesses including BIGbin who then pitched their business idea to the panel of judges live on WLRFM.  Four companies pitched each week over four weeks with the winners from each week going forward to present their pitches with a grand final live and in front  of a audience.

After considerable adjudication and following a live on-air pitch on WLR’s ‘Deise AM’ programme hosted by Billy McCarthy, Deserts first was chosen as winner with The BIGbin company as runner up. For more information please check out link..

We are very excited about this because it signals a new era in BIGbins development. Along with the new brand comes our new bin. BIG clean, visible and very yellow.  We endeavor to make sure our BIGbins are kept maintained and as clean as can be. We now use a paint finish that is a special high build marine acrylic. We hope this will help to keep the marking and scuffing on our bins to a minimum. So our bins are BIG, CLEAN and TOUGH oh and not forgetting YELLOW.
